SERVICE PUBLIC DE WALLONIE - DG06

SERVICE PUBLIC DE WALLONIE - DG06

The main objective of the Directorate of Federal and International Programmes is to ensure the participation of Walloon researchers in federal and international research programmes, among which include ERA-Net, researcher mobility (BEWARE), Regions of Knowledge, Joint Programming Initiatives, the EUROSTARS programme, the EUREKA initiative, the ESFRI forum (European
Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) and even the COST programme.

This Directorate also manages research projects co-funded by the European Commission within the framework of structural funds. It ensures the implementation and monitoring of scientific partnership agreements signed between Wallonia and certain third countries. Finally, it monitors the European framework programme by participating in comitology and financing NCP-Wallonia.

The Directorate of Federal and International Programmes pursues the following secondary objectives:

  • presence and information, mainly via comitology, by making Wallonia's position known (in consultation with other Belgium federal units) and by gathering a maximum amount of information useful to research bodies;
  • supporting stakeholders by offering financial aid both to support the development of European projects and to finance research itself;
  • making stakeholders aware of research in Wallonia, through NCP-Wallonia for example;
  • supporting regional development policies through FEDER or INTERREG funds.
